Full trip plans for 7 World Marathon Majors plus Procam India races and Ladakh. Cost in INR across three routes: Direct / Ballot, Charity Bond, and Tour Operator (AHC). Picked, priced, and dated for Delhi-based runners.
Seven World Marathon Majors in INR
Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago, New York and the newest Major, Sydney — each with a full cost breakdown in rupees across three entry routes. Tokyo's charity route via CARE International Japan at ~₹1,03,500 fundraise. London's Terrence Higgins Trust overseas rate at £4,000 / ₹4.32L. Berlin's Realbuzz portal at £1,250 — the cheapest charity minimum of any Major. Chicago's American Red Cross at $2,200 early-bird. NYC's Fred's Team at $4,500. Boston's Dana-Farber at $8,500–$10,000 (the steepest). Sydney's direct entry is still open to most applicants.
Direct vs Charity vs AHC — the three routes
Direct (ballot or BQ qualifier) is the cheapest but most uncertain path — Tokyo is <10%, London is <2%, NYC is 2–4%, Berlin is ~1 in 3, Chicago is ~20–25%. Charity is near-guaranteed once accepted but requires a fundraising commitment — ₹1L (Tokyo) to ₹8L (Boston). AHC (Active Holiday Company, the official Indian Travel Partner for Tokyo, London, Berlin, Chicago, NYC) bundles entry + hotel near start + transfers for a 3–5 night package. Berlin's AHC package at ~₹69,000 is the cheapest; Boston's at ~₹3.5L is the priciest.
Indian races — Procam and Ladakh
Tata Mumbai Marathon (ballot-based, philanthropic bibs via United Way at ₹25,000–₹1,00,000), Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon (Procam ballot, local for Delhi runners), TCS World 10K Bengaluru (direct entry), Tata Steel Kolkata 25K (rare 25K distance, open entry), and the Ladakh Marathon — the highest-altitude marathon in the world at 3,500m, requiring 5–7 days of altitude acclimatisation. Indian races collapse to a single 'Direct' cost column since there is no AHC tour equivalent; some offer NGO charity bib options.
Cost breakdown — 2 pax in INR
Every trip plan shows a line-by-line cost table for two people: flights from Delhi, hotel nights in-destination, charity fundraise minimums, AHC package cost, race entry fee, local transit (JR Pass for Japan, Oyster for London, MTA for NYC), food allowance, and visa + insurance. Totals are shown for Direct / Charity / AHC columns. Tokyo charity route: ~₹6L. Berlin all-in: ~₹2.8L. Boston charity: ~₹12L (the most expensive). London AHC: ~₹5.4L. Ladakh: ~₹1.26L.
